BROOKLAND, AR (KAIT) -A group of Region 8 kids learned more in daycare than their A, B, C’s on Tuesday.
Firefighters with the Brookland Fire Protection District spent the day at the Brookland Pre-K School.
There they talked to students about fire safety, passed out coloring books, stickers, badges and even some firefighter helmets for them to take home.
Chief Steve Beck said it’s important to begin teaching kids early.
“The sooner you begin educating children about fire safety the better,” Chief Beck said. “Children retain so much information when they’re young. Information they’ll remember for the rest of their lives. It’s never too early to begin talking to them about the danger associated with fires and fire safety.”
The firefighter also brought one of their fire engine trucks out to the school for the students to check out.
Beck said they spoke to 160 children.
