Arkansas worst in nation for Black Friday violence, study says

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Everyone knows you can find great bargains on the day after Thanksgiving. But who knew it could be so dangerous? Especially in Arkansas.

According to a new study, Arkansas is the most dangerous state when it comes to Black Friday violence.

Reviews.org reports shoppers in the Natural State are at highest risk of violence that day.

They based their findings on violent crime rates along with previous reports of Black Friday deaths and violence by state.

Highest risk of Black Friday violence:

  1. Arkansas
  2. Tennessee
  3. West Virginia
  4. North Carolina
  5. Alabama

Lowest risk of Black Friday violence:

  1. Vermont
  2. Oregon
  3. Rhode Island
  4. Pennsylvania
  5. Wisconsin

The study also found that Walmart had a “disproportionate number of incidents, more than all other locations combined.” That is most likely, the study conceded, because Walmart is the largest retailer in the U.S.

Of the violent incidents that have occurred, you’re more likely to be trampled as shoppers rush for the best deals. Shootings are a close second, comprising 26.7 percent of all violent incidents, followed by car incidents in the parking lot, and stabbings.
