A-State sophomore Peyton Martin named Sun Belt Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

Arkansas State sophomore forward Peyton Martin has been named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week after a pair of 20-point performances over the past week.

Martin averaged 23.5 and 8.5 rebounds over the Red Wolves’ contests against Memphis and UT Martin. She began the week by scoring a then career-high 20 points as the Red Wolves outscored the Tigers 29-14 in the fourth quarter. Martin helped lead the way in the final frame with 11 points.

Later in the week the Pine Bluff, Ark., native notched her first career double-double with a 27-point, 12-rebound afternoon against the Skyhawks. The 27 points and 12 rebounds were both career-highs for Martin, who now leads A-State on the season in scoring (19.0 ppg) and ranks second in rebounding (6.7 rpg).

A-State takes will host Louisiana Tech Tuesday, Nov. 20 at First National Bank Arena, followed by a road trip to College Station, Texas on Friday, Nov. 23 to take Texas A&M. Tip-off against the Aggies is set for 4 p.m. and the game will air on the SEC+ Network.
