Press Release from Arkansas State Athletics
Arkansas State Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics Terry Mohajir announced Wednesday a one-game contract has been signed that will send the Red Wolves’ football team to Seattle in 2021 to play Pac-12 member Washington for the first time in school history.
Arkansas State will face Washington on Sept. 18 at Husky Stadium, giving the Red Wolves three announced non-conference opponents on their 2021 schedule. A-State is also slated to host UCA on Sept. 4 and Memphis on Sept. 11.
While the Red Wolves will face the Huskies for the first time, it will be their third all-time game against a Pac-12 member. A-State also played USC in 2015 and Oregon in 2012 when they were ranked No. 8 and No. 5 in the nation, respectively.
The contest will mark Washington’s sixth all-time contest against a Sun Belt Conference opponent at the time of the game. The Huskies also played Georgia State in 2014 and Idaho in 2016 and 2001-03 while the Vandals were a member of the league.
Under the direction of head coach Chris Petersen, Washington is currently ranked No. 16 in the nation with an 8-3 overall record. Arkansas State has secured a winning record in a school-record eight consecutive seasons (2011-18) and holds 66 victories over that span to tie for the 24th most in the nation.
