Ash Flat business destroyed in overnight storms

Storm damage in Ash Flat and Van Buren

ASH FLAT, AR (KAIT) -Forschler Home Center of Ash Flat was destroyed at around 2 a.m. Saturday by storms that went through the area.

Owner Matt Forschler said that he and his family were at home, and he was working on store management when the roof of the warehouse blew on top of the store, collapsing the store.

“I had been working at home with remote access to my computer system,” Forschler said. “I was trying to figure out why. All of a sudden, my connection went down. Then, my friend, who is a storm spotter, called me and said, 'hey man, storm just hit your store, it’s completely gone. I went, you’re joking, right? He said no, seriously, the store is gone. I’m like, oh, boy.”

Forschler says that his Ash Flat store had around $1 million worth of inventory.

A lot of his products were damaged not only by the collapse and the rain, but the sprinkler system was tripped as well.

Forschler says he’s thankful community members have reached out to him already for help.
