JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Following a life in law enforcement, a Jonesboro man turned in his badge.
Rick Thomas began his law enforcement career in 1974.
Forty-four years later, he celebrated his retirement at the Craighead County Sheriff’s Department.
Thomas began his career as a patrolman for the Jonesboro Police Department. Six years later he was promoted to the Criminal Investigation Division where he held the ranks of sergeant, lieutenant, and captain.
He later served the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office as Chief Deputy.
Thomas was also a founding member of the Jonesboro Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #8.
“It’s been an adventure, It’s been exciting. It’s been heartbreaking. It’s just been good for me,” Thomas said when describing his career.
He said it’s been his honor to serve Craighead County for 44 years.
