WEST PLAINS, MO (KAIT) - One business in West Plains plans to surprise troops in Afghanistan this Christmas with a special gift of their own.

Organizers with The Battery Station spent their Monday and Tuesday filling boxes with food, non-edible items, and Christmas cards mixed in as well.

They plan to ship the boxes to two units, a medical unit, and a bomb disposal unit.

The Battery Station Owner, Kevin Faulkner, said it’s a good idea to continue to remember the troops giving up their time to serve over the holidays.

“I think when we’re not at war, I think we as a society are guilty of forgetting about our troops that are deployed all over the world,” Faulkner said. “We just want to remember them at Christmas and all the time.”

Those who wish to donate have until Wed., Dec. 5 to make their donations.

This allows the items to be shipped and received by the troops on Christmas Day.
