POCAHONTAS, AR (KAIT) -The new Black River Bridge in Pocahontas is moving closer to completion.
ARDOT has even started letting cars come through on the bridge to help ease traffic woes.
ARDOT District 10 Engineer Brad Smithee said all that is left to do is work on the roadways leading to the bridge, and clean up the construction equipment.
“We’re close to opening the new bridge--the bridge is ready," Smithee said. "But we have roadway work that has to be completed before we can make that final step over to where we can get everything opened up.”
Smithee says the weather has also put a big damper on laying the asphalt for the bridge approach.
He hopes that they can get it done by Christmas to help with congestion in the Pocahontas area.
However, the weather just has to permit.
