NATIONAL (NBC/KAIT) -At just nine years old, Kennedy Allen has used her gift of writing to tackle issues most parents don’t like to address.
With a little help from her mom and step-father, Kennedy wrote the book, “Kenny Mini And The Not So Good Summer Break.”
The book for kids is about dealing with divorced parents.
Kennedy said her parents divorce was hard, but she knew she was strong enough to get through it.
“The inspiration is that you should always feel special," Kennedy said. "Whenever your parents are getting a divorce you should just be okay with that because they will always love you. The reason they got the divorce is because they loved you so much.”
Kennedy’s personal experience helped unfold her story to where her mother Prosha Waters said the magic happened.
“She’s always been writing herself,"Waters said. "It’s been like this since she was five years old. She’ll go in her journal and write little things from time.”
