LAKE CITY, AR (KAIT) –The jury has deliberated and a man is on his way to prison.

A press release issued by Second Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Scott Ellington stated a jury convicted 46-year-old Michael Turner on Dec. 14.

They found him guilty of First-Degree Battery for an incident occurring July 23, 2016.

Turner’s vehicle crossed traffic, causing a motor vehicle accident, and leaving 23-year-old Mary Neitch with severe head trauma.

Judge Dan Ritchey agreed to the jury’s recommended sentence of thirty years in the Arkansas Department of Correction.

Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Grant DeProw prosecuted the case for the State of Arkansas.

District Attorney Ellington said he was grateful for DeProw’s hard work and determination.

“I want to thank Deputy Prosecutor Grant DeProw for his hard work pursuing justice in this case," Ellington said. "I also want to thank Lake City Police Department for their fine investigation. Finally, thank you to the jurors, to the excellent men and women who took the time away from their work and their families in order to ensure that justice was achieved today.”
