POCAHONTAS, AR (KAIT) - Efforts to enter into a partnership between St. Bernards Healthcare and Five Rivers Medical Center in Pocahontas continue, according to representatives with St. Bernards.
Darren Caldwell, Senior Vice President of Regional Services for St. Bernards, said the Pocahontas City Council approved changed at their meeting on Tuesday to several documents that would be necessary for the relationship to move forward.
He said the documents must now be approved by the United States Department of Agriculture. The USDA provided financing to the city of Pocahontas to support a renovation of the hospital.
The current Five Rivers Medical Center hospital board must also approve the documents after the USDA’s approval.
Caldwell said St. Bernards is excited about a future partnership with Five Rivers Medical.
He said once the USDA issue is resolved, St. Bernards new managing role will begin.
