FAYETTEVILLE, AR (KAIT/KHBS) - Veterans Affairs released their final update of the year regarding their investigation into potentially misdiagnosed cases in Arkansas.
Former pathologist Dr. Robert Levy was fired after being accused of being impaired at work, according to Fayetteville ABC Affiliate KHBS.
The VA has been reviewing more than 33,000 cases since June that Levy was involved with.
Hospital medical director Kelvin Parks said that as of Dec. 14, the investigation is 87 percent complete.
Of that, more than 2,400 cases have been determined to have errors or misdiagnoses.
There have also been four deaths that may have resulted from those errors.
Parks said that the VA has notified over 19,000 veterans of the results and will share the final outcome as well.
He hopes to have the final cases reviewed by the end of 2018.
