(KAIT/NBC) - A Pennsylvania woman wants to spread a message that it is never good to judge a book by its cover.
Stacy Friend is battling Parkinson’s disease at the age of 43.
She has already had brain surgery, and next month she will have a second operation.
She went shopping at her local Walmart with her daughter and chose to park in a handicap spot. She displayed her handicap sign and went into the store.
When she came out of the store, a note was left on her car reading, “You are not disabled pig," which caused her to take to Facebook and share what happened.
“Saturday morning when I genuinely wanted to try and read all the comments, and thank the people who were being supportive," Friend said. “I actually had to sit at the dining room table and I cried. Like, some people are just so mean.”
Her post was shared over 6,000 times with people offering her messages of hope and sharing similar stories.
Friend still wants what she set out for, a simple apology.
