One suspect in custody following Saturday shooting
Newly elected Sheriff Kevin Bell has only been on the job for about a month, but he’s already hit the ground running.

RANDOLPH COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -One man is in custody following a Saturday shooting in Randolph County.

According to Sheriff Kevin Bell, a suspect, Troy Murphy, fired shots at a residence shortly after 8 p.m.

A pursuit then began between Murphy and an off-duty officer before the suspect crashed on Blacksferry Road, then fled on foot.

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, and Arkansas State Police tracked the suspect before arresting him around 9:30.

Sheriff Bell said that Judge John Throesh found probable cause to charge with terroristic act , possession of a firearm by certain person, second-degree battery, resisting arrest, leaving the scene of an accident.

Throesh set Murphy’s bond at $250,000 cash only.
