JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Craighead County man faces a felony domestic battering charge after police say he assaulted a woman as they drove down a road earlier this week.
Donald Gene Moore of Jonesboro was arrested Jan. 22 on suspicion of domestic battering-2nd degree after an investigation by Jonesboro police.
According to a probable cause affidavit, police received a report Jan. 19 about the incident after getting a call from a local hospital.
The victim was taken to a Memphis hospital for further treatment but was later released, police said.
Officers later interviewed the victim about the situation.
“While speaking to her, she did advise that while riding in a vehicle with Mr. Moore, he struck her in the face and back of her head with his hand while they argued with each other,” the affidavit noted. “She advised they went to a trailer near Duncan Road and once inside, he began to punch her in her face with his fist more than once.”
The victim also told police that she did not remember any other portion of the assault but did remember Moore taking her to the hospital after they left.
“She advised she may have passed out on the way there,” according to the affidavit.
Moore reportedly told the victim not to contact anyone in her family about the incident or he would be back to get her, police said in the affidavit.
A $15,000 bond was set for Moore, who will appear in court Feb. 22.
The judge also issued a no-contact order in the case.
