Press Release from Lyon College Athletics
The Lyon College men’s basketball team shot over 55-percent from the field for the game and limited Ecclesia College to 37-percent shooting as the Scots picked up a 101-63 in their final non-conference game of the season on Monday night. A total of seven Scots scored in double figures as they improved to 13-8.
An explosive first half from Lyon College saw the Scots take a 55-27 lead over the Royals after the first 20 minutes. The Scots opened up the game on a 17-2 run as a put-back by Eric Moses gave Lyon the 15-point advantage four minutes into the game. Lyon extended its lead to 20 on two separate occasions before Ecclesia cut the deficit to 10 midway through the first half. Lyon would finish the half on a 23-5 run as a jumper by Blake Bradshaw put the Scots ahead, 55-27, at the break.
Much like the first half, it was all Lyon to start the second. Bradshaw opened up the scoring for the Scots before Moses, Zalek Sharp and Emir Sabic all got in on the action to put the Scots up by 37 with just over 15 minutes left in the game. The lead hovered around the mid-30s until a pair of free throws by Brandon England pushed the Scots over the century mark and gave Lyon its largest advantage of the game at 101-57.
Bradshaw finished with a team-high 18 points, while Sabic chipped in 17. Antanas Krimelis just missed out on a double-double as he finished with 16 points and nine rebounds. Sharp (13), England (12), Moses (11) and Faris Verlasevic (10) also finished in double-digits scoring for the Scots.
The Scots will open up a three-game American Midwest Conference road trip at St. Louis College of Pharmacy on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.
