JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Lets warm up with the hot stove of college football. We’re one week away from National Signing Day.
Arkansas State has 17 players in their 2019 class and they’re looking for a few more. Texas wide receiver David Clayton and Georgia defensive back Zion Hawkins verballed with A-State last week. Blake Anderson said in December that the priority positions heading into February were offensive tackle, wide receiver, & running back.
I asked the Red Wolves head coach about their recruiting approach at his January 9th press conference.
“Well, we’re down to 5 spots, those have been the same 5 spots that we have carried all along, that we didn’t expect to fill. We’re down to a handful of guys at each position. Getting these guys on the road, they are involved in a couple of these spots. So getting these guys on the road as well as the rest of the staff. A good bit of January for us will be about developing leads for future talent for next year, and so we’ll do that as well. I think we made a good run at December, and we’re being pretty selective about the guys that we are trying to close out in February.”
