LITTLE ROCK, AR (KAIT) -The Arkansas Dept. of Health released their weekly flu activity report Tuesday.
According to a press release, the state reported widespread activity to the CDC and high activity for ILI (influenza-like illness).
68 counties in the state reported flu-like cases, with two Region 8 counties (Craighead, White) reporting major flu activity.
School absenteeism was also at a high rate, with a 7.3% rate among public schools.
So far, there have been 23 deaths reported across the state due to the flu, with one pediatric death. According to the CDC, 24 pediatric deaths have been reported nationwide due to the flu.
Since Sept. 30, 2018, the department’s reported over 7,600 positive flu cases across the state.
