According to a news release, the academy runs for 12 weeks, with the first session scheduled for Thursday, March 14.

While the academy won’t hire any new officers, it also gives the public a chance to learn about the policies, procedures, and laws that police enforce.

In order to apply, citizens must be 21 years old, and live in work in Craighead County.

According to the release, residents also must not have any prior felony arrests, no serious misdemeanors over the last two years, and commit to attending 75% of the classes.
