Local VFW Post cooks up fun way to raise money for veterans

VFW hosts pancake breakfast to raise money for veterans

PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) - A local VFW Post has cooked up a fun way to raise money for our veterans.

VFW Post 2242 has started holding monthly pancake breakfasts at their meeting hall in Paragould.

The food is all you can eat for just $6, and they serve pancakes, eggs, bacon and sausage.

Commander Darvin Weatherspoon said all of the money raised goes directly to local veterans, and can be used however it is needed to help.

“We help veterans in need, if they need help with their electric bill or rent whatever we help them, also we do events in the community,” said Weatherspoon.

This is the third breakfast fundraiser the post has had, and so far, they’ve raised several hundred dollars.

Post officials said the breakfast is also a great way to get the community involved with their local veterans.

“They’re seeing what we do. We’re doing it to get our community involved to show what we do for our veterans and community,” said Weatherspoon.

If you missed it, the VFW Post plans to have the breakfast every second Saturday from 7 to 11 a.m.
