SEARCY, AR (KAIT) - A White County man did not get far after an Arkansas Highway Patrol officer helped arrest him after the man was accused of robbing a Walmart Friday night at knifepoint, Searcy police said.
According to a media release from Police Chief Steve Hernandez, Eddie Ray Myers of Searcy was arrested Feb. 8 after Searcy police went to the Walmart Supercenter on East Race Avenue.
Hernandez said police received a call about an aggravated robbery around 7:20 p.m., Feb. 8.
“It was reported that a white male approached employees in the Money Center where he brandished a knife and demanded cash from the employee. The suspect then left the store,” Hernandez said.
Hernandez said the suspect did get money from the employee and it was recovered when Myers was arrested.
Before Searcy police could get to the scene, the highway patrol officer was able to stop Myers’ vehicle in the parking lot of the Supercenter.
Police later found evidence used in the robbery and took Myers into custody, Hernandez said.
Myers, who was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault and theft of property, was being held in the White County Law Enforcement Center.
