While you were sleeping, the White River rose to more than 30 feet, according to the National Weather Service.

This morning, Jackson County officials are keeping a watchful eye on the water level at the White River as word about a 2017 report on a levee provided details about problems in the area.

The American Red Cross has opened a shelter in Newport as a precaution as officials watch that levee.

Meanwhile, an Arkansas woman is recovering after police say someone threw a tire off an overpass.

President Trump is expected to sign a budget deal that should prevent another government shutdown.

A ridge of high pressure will keep rain free weather in Region 8 today.

Morning temperatures are in the 40s and 50s across the area.

Winds will pick up today from the south at 20 to 30.

Slightly warmer temperatures are expected today with highs in the 60s.
