GREENE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Monday is President’s Day, and one local group honored the day early with a 5K event.
The Greene County Republican Committee held the race Saturday, Feb. 16, as a way to get away from the “dinner events” that usually honor the holiday.
Event coordinator Robby Glasco said it’s always important to remember why we celebrate holidays like Presidents’ Day.
“I think we should always be thankful for Presidents’ Day, be thankful that we are built on a republic model of government,” said Glasco, “Where there are so many places around the world if you don’t like the leader you have it’s too bad.”
The event was sponsored by Victims’ Rights Arkansas, a grassroots movement that lobbies for legislation to better represent and protect victims of crimes.
