Report: Deputy released from hospital after drunk driver crashes into him, driver arrested

MOUNTAIN HOME, AR (KAIT/KY3) - A Baxter County deputy sheriff was taken to the hospital Friday evening after authorities said he was hit by a drunk driver during a traffic stop.

Deputy Jacob Zappa was in his patrol car when the vehicle was struck, Springfield television station KSPR reported.

According to a report from Springfield television station KY3, the deputy was hospitalized after the incident. Sheriff John Montgomery initially released details about the incident on Twitter.

The deputy, whose name was not released, was taken to the emergency room by emergency crews, KY3 reported, noting the driver was arrested.

Zappa was released from the hospital Saturday.
