Flu deaths now up to 31, according to weekly flu report

LITTLE ROCK, AR (KAIT) -The Arkansas Department of Health released their weekly flu report Tuesday.

According to a press release, the state reported widespread activity to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

71 counties reported flu-like cases, with two Region 8 counties (Craighead, White) among those with the majority of the cases reported.

According to the release, the state reported 31 influenza-related deaths, with one pediatric death.

According to the CDC, 34 pediatric deaths have been reported nationwide.

The ADH also said that as of Feb. 16, eleven schools have closed briefly due to the flu.

Since Sept. 30, 2018, over 15,200 positive cases have been reported to the ADH online database by healthcare providers.
