JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Craighead County man appeared before a judge Thursday after his arrest on suspicion of two counts of kidnapping earlier this month, according to authorities.

Jimmy W. Maness of Lake City was arrested in connection with a Feb. 13 incident.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Lake City Police Chief Winred Saffell received a call about the situation.

The police were told that Jimmy Maness was holding two people in their home and would not let them leave, the affidavit noted.

Saffell spoke to one of the victims who said Maness had threatened to kill them and the other person with a brick several days before the incident, police said.

One of the victims was taken to a hospital, where they were treated for bruises and were under observation, the affidavit noted.

In addition to two counts of kidnapping, Maness was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault on a family or household member, first-degree domestic battery and first-degree terroristic threatening.

A $100,000 bond was set for Maness, who will appear in court March 22.
