PALM HARBOR, FL (KAIT) - Austin Cook is bouncing back in style after a missed cut at The Players.

The Jonesboro High & Arkansas alum is in contention at the Valspar Championship. Cook fired a 4-under par 67 Friday morning, he’s tied for the lead at -6 overall. Austin birdied 5 of his first 11 holes.

He carded 5 birdies and 3 bogeys Thursday for an opening round 69.

His highlight of Round 1 was a 45 foot putt for birdie.

Fellow Razorback alum Andrew Landry birdied his first two holes of the day, but a couple bogeys would be part of a 1st round 72. He’s +1 heading to the 2nd Round.
