MENA, Ark. (AP) - The Polk County sheriff says "drunk and stupid" behavior resulted in a man being fatally stabbed and another being charged with murder.
Authorities said Wednesday that 36-year-old Raymond Leach III was being held on $5 million bond for killing 23-year-old Christopher Ryan Casey of Mena. Leach is charged with capital murder in the slaying early Friday.
Sheriff Mike Oglesby said Leach, Casey and a third person, who wasn't charged, had pulled over east of Cove when Leach allegedly stabbed Casey.
Oglesby said the men had not been arguing and there was no clear reason for the killing.
"1 of them crazy things," Oglesby said.
Leach is being held in the Howard County Jail because the tornado-damaged Polk County Jail is still being repaired.
