LAKE CITY, AR (KAIT) - Police say a man who has preached across Arkansas and presently in Region 8 is accused of sexual indecency with a child through the Internet.
Lake City Police Chief Winred Saffell tells Region 8 News that 24-year-old Joe Ellis was arrested at his Lake City home at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning after Alexander Police Department in Saline County, Arkansas notified him of a felony warrant for his arrest.
Chief Saffell says Ellis allegedly made inappropriate contact with a "minor" online, though the person on the other end of the computer was actually an undercover Alexander Police detective.
Ellis is charged with Internet stalking of a child and sexual indecencies with a minor. He appeared in court Wednesday in Saline County where a judge set a $10,000 sheriff's bond for the accused man. A sheriff's bond means the suspect must come up with the full amount of money to be released.
Police also say the man was ordered to have no Internet usage and to have no contact with a minor, pending his trial.
