JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - One Region 8 organization is saving animals' lives, and the community can also play a part.

At the Jonesboro PETCO, the Northeast Arkansans for Animals organization hosted a sidewalk thrift sale from 2 to 4 pm.  The sale included Halloween clothing and toys. Proceeds from this sale go towards the cost of care for several animals recently rescued.  These animals are extremely emaciated and sick.

The pets this sale will benefit include: "Miracle"--an emaciated Dane, "Rukus" and "Rabble"--a lab and pit bull taken by the Poinsett County Sheriff's Department and surrendered to NAFA, and the "Jackson Five"--a litter of five puppies who were suffering from extreme mange, intestinal parasites, coccidia, and possibly parvo.

None of the animals are currenlty up for adoption due to the fact NAFA is working towards making them well.

The sale will continue at PETCO next Saturday, October 24th, from 2 to 4 pm again.  Halloween weekend, NAFA is sponsoring a Halloween Fair.  Owners will be able to enter their furry friends in a costume contest and obstacle course among many other fun activities.  This fair will also be at PETCO and will last from 11 to 4 pm.  All proceeds benefit bettering the rescued animals.
