Mo. lawmaker apologizes for DWI arrest

IMPERIAL, Mo. (AP) - Missouri state Rep. Tim Meadows is apologizing after he was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving in Jefferson County.

The Democrat from Imperial said in the statement issued Sunday that he is "deeply sorry."

Sheriff's Capt. Ralph Brown said a Jefferson County deputy stopped Meadows about 12:13 a.m. Saturday in Imperial. He was booked at the Jefferson County Jail at 1:53 a.m. and released at 2:45 a.m.

The 51-year-old Meadows said in the statement that nothing like that had happened in the past and "it certainly won't happen again in the future."

He said that his attorney had advised him to make no further comment.
