BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) – Blytheville police have a man in custody charged with murder in the 1st degree.
According to Blytheville Police, on Friday November 6th around 6:45pm, police responded to the area of Leawood and Moultrie streets after reports of gunfire in the area.
Police in the area observed and pursued a man seen running from that area carrying a handgun. Police were able to catch the subject, 23-year-old Cordell Wells of Blytheville.
Police say Wells shot and killed 29-year-old Wale Adelowo at his home on 1001 Leawood. Witnesses provided police with a description that matched that of Wells.
Police are still investigating the motive of the shooting, but do believe Adelowo was specifically targeted by Wells, and was not a random act of violence.
Wells is being charged with Murder in the 1st degree, and had bond set at $500,000 cash bond. He's expected back in court on December 28th.
