JONESBORO (11/11/09) – Arkansas State head men’s golf coach Steve Johnson announced Wednesday that Dexter, Mo. native and high school all-state selection Chance Holden has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Red Wolves.

Holden was an all-state and all-conference selection and the district medalist at Dexter High School in 2009.  He was also an all-conference selection in 2007 and 2008, as well as the district medalist in 2008.  Over the last four years, Holden has posted the lowest high school score in a match 33 times and claimed six tournament titles.

Holden has averaged 74.9 strokes per round in tournament play and was his high school’s team medalist from 2007-09.  During 2009, Holden posted six top-10 and nine top-25 finishes in 11 tournaments played.

“We are very excited about Chance joining our golf team,” said Johnson.  “He definitely shows a strong commitment to play at this level.  With adequate length and shot-making ability, he will be a tremendous addition to our lineup.”

Holden, who also played basketball as a freshman, is the president of the Dexter High School Honor’s Society, which he has been a member of since 2008.
