JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – A two-vehicle accident takes the life of a Region 8 man Monday morning.

A red Ford Mustang was being test driven by a man when it went over the train tracks on Highland just before Conveyor Road. Jonesboro Police believe the car lost control and crossed into oncoming traffic.

A Bay Electric Inc. passenger van slammed into the side of the Mustang, killing it's driver.

Pending notification of next-of-kin, police have not released the man's name.

Highland Drive was shut down for almost two hours, and was reopened around 1 p.m..

While not certain of it as a factor, Jonesboro Police Sergeant Doug Forman said, "When you go 14 days without rain and then suddenly you do get some rain...obviously, all of those oils and greases are going to come up from the surface and it always makes the street slicker."
