SIKESTON, MO (KFVS) - Authorities in several towns continue receiving complaints from residents about people going door to door attempting to sell magazines.

Since a story aired Friday on KAIT sister-station KFVS regarding this alleged scam, more people came forward with information saying they were victims as well.

The Sikeston Department of Public safety issued a press release saying the department was notified of a group of people who said they were with a large magazine sales company selling magazines door to door.

You are advised to do research on companies if you feel they may be fraudulent. You can visit the Better Business Bureau's website to check out companies.

In addition to the Sikeston area, complaints have been received from Bertrand, Charleston, East Prairie, Advance and Dexter.

Sgt. Jim McMillen with Sikeston DPS says if a resident feels they've been a victim of fraud, they can file a complaint with the BBB. You should also notify local law enforcement and the Missouri State Attorney General's Office.
