JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A group of Region 8 High School students are trying to do their part for our troops overseas.
Brookland High School students are working on a project called "Shoe boxes for soldiers".
These care packages will be filled with items for troops and then sent to the 875th.
Students like Caleb Cooper say showing soldiers their support is the least they can do, "These soldiers are part of the community, and they pretty much work in every business, and are a part of every family around here. So, everybody's connected. We all feel for those people going over there so it would be a good thing to help them out, and show them that we care for them."
They need non-perishable food items, sun block, contact solution, chapstick, and monetary donations to send the boxes to the soldiers.
They will be accepting donations through December 11th.
You can drop items off at the school or go online to their website www.brookland.k12.ar.us to make donations.
