Missouri guards grab Big 12 weekly honors

Posted: Updated:

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - A pair of Missouri Tigers swept the Big 12 Conference's weekly honors for men's basketball.

Sophomore guard Kim English was named the league's Player of the Week Monday after scoring 24 points in a win over Illinois and 23 points in Missouri's defeat of Austin Peay.

Freshman guard Michael Dixon was named Rookie of the Week after averaging 14 points, 4.5 assists and 3.5 steals in the two games. Dixon started both games in place of the injured Zaire (zeye-EER') Taylor.

Missouri players have won both awards in the same week just once before.
