POCAHONTAS, AR - A Pocahontas girls basketball coach faces felony sexual assault charges on an allegation he had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student.

Police arrested 31-year-old Richard C. Estes on Wednesday.  Investigators say the relationship occured during the 2001-2002 school year and that the girl was not a member of the basketball team.  Investigators also said the girl told them the relationship was consensual.

Estes was suspended with pay last month.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Estes and the girl had sex numerous times from November 2001 through April 2002.  Estes' wife is a science teacher at the Pocahontas Junior High School.
