PINE BLUFF, AR - The state's prisons are getting too full, again, and the state prison board plans a meeting today to do something about it. The state Correction Board will hold a meeting by telephone conference call this morning to discuss invoking the Emergency Powers Act.
That state law allows the board to approve the early release of inmates who are within a year of their parole date. Early release of some inmates frees up space needed for prisoners coming into the system.
