JONESBORO, AR - One person is dead today as the result of a head-on collision that occured this morning in the Valley View area of south Jonesboro.
The accident occured at approximately 9:30 a.m. on U.S. 49 when a Ford pick-up truck driven by 25-year-old Barret John Sitzer of Jonesboro collided head-on with an 18-wheeler.
Sitzer was killed in the accident, which was investigated by officers with the Jonesboro Police and Fire departments, and the Craighead County Sheriff's Department.
The driver of the eighteen wheeler, Chester Brown, of Dallas Texas, escaped the accident uninjured.
Due to a fuel spill from the semi truck, members of the Craighead County Office of Emergency Services were also called to the scene to protect the area near the waterways from contamination.
