Arkansas Housing Military Planes for Mississippi

AUGUST 30, 2005 - Posted at 8:07 a.m. CDT

JACKSONVILLE, AR - The U.S. Military has sent aircraft from Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi, and Hurlburt Field near Fort Walton Beach, Florida, to the Little Rock Air Force Base in Jacksonville for safekeeping from Hurricane Katrina.

The C-21 and C-130-J aircraft and other military planes arrived during the weekend.  Captain David Faggard said the plane would stay in Little Rock until they could fly back.

Governor Huckabee said that Arkansas is sending a pair of Medevac Blackhawk helicopters to Mississippi today, after Mississippi requested them, and the governor said the 239th and 875th engineering units of the Arkansas National Guard might be deployed to the disaster zone.
