Trustees to Consider Gearhart as Next UA Chancellor

Posted:

FAYETTEVILLE, AR - University of Arkansas President B. Alan Sugg says he plans to recommend to trustees that G. David Gearhart become the next chancellor of the UA Fayetteville campus.

Gearhart is the university's vice chancellor for university advancement and an education professor.  He played a key role in major fundraising efforts by the university under current Chancellor John A. White.

White announced earlier this month that he is resigning, effective June 30.

Sugg informed UA faculty and staff of his recommendation yesterday.  Sugg is to formally recommend Gearhart tomorrow when trustees meet.

The 55-year-old Gearhart has served as a vice chancellor since 1998.  He is a native of Fayetteville and an Arkansas graduate.
