Region 8 Man Crashes Into Post Office Twice in One Day!

RAVENDEN SPRINGS, AR (KAIT) - A Region 8 man is in jail Monday morning after he drives into a post office...twice...in one day!

65-year old Glenn Irvin Sparling of Ravenden Springs allegedly drove not one but two cars into a post office in Ravenden Springs in the same day.  According to Randolph County Sheriff Gary Tribble, Sparling drove a vehicle into the post office earlier in the day.  After leaving the scene, Tribble says his first car broke down.

But that didn't stop Glenn.

Tribble says he went home, got a second vehicle and headed back to the post office.  Deputy Allen Webb of the Randolph County Sheriff's began chasing Sparling and Ravenden Springs Marshall Kevin Montgomery assisted.  Sparling then crashed his red antique sports car into the post office but fortunately, wasn't injured.

The 65-year old now faces a plethora of charges:  felony vehicular fleeing, felony criminal mischief, felony leaving the scene of an accident with property damage as well as DWI  He also faces 2 counts of no seatbelt, 2 counts of no proof of liability, running a stop sign, driving left of center, expired vehicle license and the possibility of federal charges should the postal service choose to do so.

The most bizarre part of this story is that Sparling has vandalized post offices before according to Sheriff Tribble.  Tribble says that Sparling has some kind of disdain for the government and apparently decided to take it out on post offices in Region 8.

Regardless of his reasons, Sparling was arrested and taken to Randolph County Jail where he awaits an arraignment that will likely be held sometime Monday.
