Free health screenings for women

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Heart Disease is the number one killer of women across the nation.

Saturday morning in Jonesboro women got the opportunity to get multiple tests done free of charge.  Dry eye, bone density, cholesterol and several other screenings were done at the Women's Health Conference at the Southwest Church of Christ.

Dr. Courtney Hoffman said events like this one are very beneficial to women, especially those who would not get the tests done any other way.

"In this economy there are so many people who are uninsured or under insured so this screening is amazing it can really check you from head to toe," said Hoffman.

Organizers say often times a woman finds out about a health problem from the free screenings in time to stop a potential health risk.
