LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas Supreme Court has disciplined a Jonesboro lawyer for using his position to allegedly coerce a female client into having sex with him.
The high court revealed in an order Thursday that the Arkansas Supreme Court Committee on Professional Conduct fined Frank David Rees $2,500 for his actions. The woman recorded phone conversations in 2005, that included discussion of Rees' alleged misconduct.
The order says the woman approached Rees in October 2004 about a possible injury claim against drugmaker Merck & Co., and Rees called the woman to his office after hours, claiming she needed to sign more paperwork. The woman said Rees then used "coercive tactics" until she had sex with him.
Separately, the woman sued Rees and the case was settled before trial.
In February, the committee suspended Rees' from practicing for 102 days and fined him $1,000 on four separate orders. He was also cautioned by the committee in 1984, committee records show.
