Chiefs hire Pendergast defensive coordinator

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Clancy Pendergast, the defensive coordinator for Arizona's run to the Super Bowl, is now in charge of defense for the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Chiefs finished 2-14 last year with 1 of the worst defenses in the league, and set an NFL record with only 10 sacks.

Pendergast joins Todd Haley, who was hired as head coach after serving as the Cardinals' offensive coordinator.
