HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - Marcus Kordsmeier led Conway St. Joseph with 16 points in a 44-40 defeat of Melbourne that gave the Bulldogs the Class 2A boys championship.
Zach Hambuchen played a major role for the Bulldogs at the end of tonight's game in Hot Springs. With Conway St. Joseph trying to run out the clock for a state championship, Hambuchen went up for a shot and missed. Then he went back on defense and redeemed himself.
Hambuchen knocked the ball away as a Melbourne player drove to the basket, enabling the Bulldogs (34-4) to hold on for the win.
Spencer Caraway led Melbourne (36-5) with 17 points.
