LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas-Little Rock will not be part of the National Invitation Tournament.
UALR was not included in the 32-team field announced Sunday night. The Trojans were eliminated in the semifinals of the Sun Belt Conference tournament earlier in the week. After that game, coach Steve Shields said he hoped his team would receive an NIT bid.
UALR has played in the NIT three times, most recently in 1996.
Another 16-team tournament, the College Basketball Invitational, began last year - and CollegeInsider.com has scheduled a new one this year for 16 more teams. UALR was not in either of those tournaments when their fields were announced Sunday night.
