NEW YORK (AP) - Actress Natasha Richardson has been brought to New York after she suffered a reportedly serious head injury during a skiing lesson in Montreal, Canada.

That's according to a person close to the family who asked not to be identified because of the sensitivity of the matter.

A somber looking Vanessa Redgrave, Richardson's mother, was seen walking into Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City on Tuesday evening. It couldn't be immediately determined whether Richardson is a patient at the hospital.

The New York Times quotes sources as saying Richardson's condition is very serious and her family, which includes husband Liam Neeson, is highly distressed.

The 45-year-old Richardson fell Tuesday during a private lesson Monday at the famed Mont Tremblant ski resort. A statement from the resort said she showed no visible sign of injury but an hour later reported not feeling well.
