4 Colorado residents die in Howell County crash

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Mo. (AP) - Four Colorado residents are dead after their sport utility vehicle went out of control, crashed into a pickup truck and burst into flames in southern Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said 52-year-old Deborah Calegar of Colorado Springs was driving the SUV when it went off U.S. 60 in Howell County at 4:25 p.m. Sunday. Troopers say the SUV re-entered the highway into the path of the truck and, then burst into flames in the median.

A patrol report said the crash killed Calegar, 10-year-old Christopher Calegar and James and Zelmalee Calegar, both in their 70s. The boy and the elderly couple were also from Colorado Springs.

Four people in the pickup truck suffered what troopers described as moderate injuries and were taken to a Springfield hospital.
